During my time of looking through, and using the coding program ‘Scratch it’, I was able to get a feel of what the program is about. For me, I feel that I would have needed more time with the program to be able to have utilised and learnt all that I could and feel this will come with more training and practice of the program in the future.
Within schools, the program is used as a tool to teach about the concepts of designing with digital technologies and give a stepping stone to what coding can be. It is not however all that coding is and serves as a very basic and fundamental introduction to the topic.
I discovered that the program had a range of tools that control the characters in a sequence. The different characters can be designed within the program itself, as well as the backgrounds.
With the actual use of this program in schools, I would seek assistance from the technology specialist if there is one available, or look to outside people to assist with the teaching and explaining of coding for mine and my own class’s benefit.
